Copland prides itself in producing a limited range of exquisite audiocomponents




Ole Møller is the founder and principal designer of the Copland audio company, based in central Copenhagen, Denmark. Decades of experience in the field of audio electronics is incorporated into his work and Copland is recognized worldwide for the development of class-leading amplifiers and cd-players that has earned the company a worldwide fan base of enthusiastic audiophiles, as well as a host of press accolades and prestigious industry awards.





Ole Møller began his career in the audio industry working for the renowned Danish audio manufacturing company Ortofon, specializing in pick-ups for record players, cutter heads and amplifiers for the recording industry. At the time he became assigned to the development of low noise amplifiers, focusing on the minute signals from MM and MC pickups. Founded in the mid-1980s, the establishment of the Copland audio company gave Ole Møller the opportunity to progress on his own work of audio engineering with special dedication to valves as active devices. He realized that advances in technology during the last decades offered new possibilities for circuit optimisation, using components and technology mainly unavailable for the previous designers of tube amplifiers.





CTA15



​The CTA15 power amplifier was introduced in 1984. Rated at 2x12 Watts employing EL84 power tubes, it was the first invention from Copland. The extended use of PCB technology was seriously reducing the timeconsuming labour usually incorporated into the production of a tube amplifier and the CTA15 came with a price tag within the means of many audiophiles in the 1980s.







CTA401



In 1990, Copland teamed up with the new established Company Xena Audio in Sweden, and for more than a decade, the Swedish company was responsible for the production under license from Copland. The innovative Copland designs and the excellent marketing and production skills of Xena Audio resulted in an early international success growing rapidly during the first decade of the history of the two companies The first amplifer from the 1990s was the CTA401 integrated valve amplifier. The amplifier became highly acclaimed worldwide and ever since, the exterior look with the characteristic rotary hat knobs in a symmetrical front panel layout has been a hallmark of Copland amplifiers.







CSA14



During the 1990s a series of hybrid amplifiers named “Copland Synetic Ampliers” in short “CSA” was introduced to the market. They were all employing the Copland CSA hybird circuitry design originally developed by Copland in 1980s and put into work for the first time in the CSA14 integrated amplifier launched in 1993. The CSA circuitry employs one or two dual triodes in a differential input stage direct coupled to a solid stage class A Cascode Output.







CDA288 / CDA289



The CDA 288 was the first Copland CD-Player and the brainchild of Ole Møller and Morten Simonson (Former Philips R&D Holland ) who joined the firm in the late 1990s.


The DAC of CD288 and the later CD289 employed 4 pcs. Burr Broun converters. Contrary to tradition, the CDA288 converters was serial connected, and the cross coupled current amplifiers of the analog section employed a newly developed Copland circuitry, drastically improving the slew rate performance.







CVA306



In 2001 the Copland production moved back to Denmark. The first products to arrive from the factory outside Copenhagen was the CVA306 and CVA506 multi-channel amplifiers. At the time the CVA306 multi-channel pre-amplifier from 2002 was a unique product - For the first time it was possible to explore the authority of high-quality tube amplification in a music and film system.
